Child Support Agency

The Child Support Agency (CSA) is part of the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission. The role of the CSA is to ensure that parents who live apart from their children contribute financially to their upkeep by paying child maintenance.

If your relationship breaks up, there are many things you may need to think about. These are likely to include:

  • law in relation to separation and divorce or protection from harm
  • work
  • accommodation
  • health
  • childcare
  • money and child maintenance payments

The CSA assesses and collects payments for children who are under 16 (under 20 if they are in full-time non-advanced education). If your marriage has ended and the children are living with you, you can use the CSA to get financial support for your children.

If you would like further information on your choices for arranging child maintenance, you may want to contact Child Maintenance Options, a new impartial service set up to support parents in setting up the most effective maintenance arrangement for them.
